Children grow so fast. Especially in their 1st year. I’ve watched little Yaretzi through all her changes since being born until now as she has turned one year old.
Even though our children grow and change so much so fast, there are characteristics that you can see never change. Looking back at Yaretzi’s new born photos and then looking at her one year photos, I can see all the qualities she originally possessed when she was born even though she has grown and changed a great deal. This includes their personality. I wonder often how much of the child’s personality is established in the womb and ingrained in them and how much of their personality is shaped by their environment and learned through interactions with their family members. I find it fascinating that from the get go, you can see a baby’s personality within days and the same personality throughout that 1st year and beyond.
Because our children change so much from one year to the next, I love the opportunity to be able to capture their essence and their physical growth. I think it’s so important. We have our memories of course, but sometimes, having something tangible like a photograph, we are able to recall those memories so much more easily and more vividly.
