The Covid-19 Pandemic has created a lot of difficult and unusual situations for so many people not to say the least are the grad students of 2020.
So many of these grad students are not able to graduate by walking up onto their school stage in front of all their class mates, parents, family and friends to receive their diplomas personally from their teachers. These students have worked so hard and have looked forward to this day. Unfortunately, because we’ve had to social distance ourselves to help stop the spread of this disease, schools have had to become more creative so that they can still honor all of these graduating students. For Riley and his friends, it’s a virtual ceremony like many other schools are doing. However, it’s not putting a damper on these grads. Their excitement for this evenings virtual ceremony was pouring out of them. These boys have been friends from the beginning and they wanted to honor that friendship. Even if it meant having to wear face masks. So that’s exactly what we did. We wore masks as we attended at St. John XXIII Catholic School. The school where it all began. The school where one milestone ends only so that another adventure begins. Highschool. These boys are looking forward to it I’m certain. One step completed to becoming adults. Another step lies ahead.
It was really nice for the boys to be able to get together to celebrate. They haven’t seen one another physically in months. To be able to congratulate one another and celebrate even for just a short time was very special. Their parents being able to have those few minutes of being so proud of their children while other parents watched six feet beside them. It really is a great feeling to see your child all dressed up, laughing and having this milestone acknowledged and celebrated in a way like no other. 2020 will be a year these families will all remember for sure.
