Classic Children’s Portraiture – Is it still Relevant
In today’s society, families love to have their children and themselves photographed with a real lifestyle feel. They prefer to be captured doing the everyday ordinary things that we as families do on a regular basis with our children. It tells a real story of life and the precious moments that will soon pass as they grow and develop other moments from new interests. I love the lifestyle sessions myself and think that they should be captured. However, I wonder where that leaves the classic portrait of our children that parents used to have captured and hung on their walls.
For me, I still believe that this type of photography is relevant and we need to continue to capture our families this way. It’s beautiful to document our family history and display it in our home. Lifestyle sessions to me are fantastic to capture and display in a coffee table album so we can sit back and flip through them with our children and remember that day. A classic portrait however looks amazing as a large canvas displayed in our living room as a gorgeous piece of art.
Can you imagine taking the time to style a session and capture your child’s beauty in such an artful way? I love these sessions with families and especially their children. Today, we did that with three amazing youngsters whose innocence, sweetness and personality were captured to be displayed as art. This is just a little of what we created.
