Even in early May, a PEC engagement is beautiful. That long sandy beach was awesome to stroll down in bare feet while having the entire location to ourselves. The water was beautiful to look at but a tad cold on the toes so walking or playing in the water was limited. But Evelyn and Rene weren’t discouraged at all and actually gave it a go. The sand dunes were soft on the feet as they sunk into the sand as you walked along. Running through it proved a little challenging but gave way to some great laughs. It was just perfect for their PEC engagement.
The Sandbanks are one of my favorite places to go and brings back one special memory for me. It was my 16th birthday. My mom took me out for breakfast and on our walk down the main street in Tweed to our apartment, my best friend and her family pulled up in their van and invited us for a drive. I climbed on in and sat down in the back on a cooler. There had to be at least ten of us in there all riding illegally as there were absolutely no seats in it but for the 2 front seats. I had never been to Prince Edward County and had no idea what to expect. It was hot and I was wearing blue jeans. When we arrived, I was so excited to see those dunes, and that water. I couldn’t believe it. I ran down towards the water and ran and fell into the water in my jeans. I came out soaking wet wishing I had my bathing suit with me. As I came out though, my mom pulled out my bathing suit from her purse and I watched everyone else carrying down coolers and bags. I said to her that I couldn’t believe she had my bathsuit in her purse and didn’t tell me. I was still oblivious to what was happening. Little did I know that the cooler I was sitting on the whole ride had my birthday cake in it. They had all planned a surprise birthday for me and our walk down the street was just a rouse to be in the right place at the right time to be invited along. It was such a special moment that I can still vividly relive that day. When I took my own kids, I hoped that they would have the same memory of arriving on that beach for the first time.
I think Evelyn and Rene enjoyed it too. I love that this couple has chosen Gananoque for their wedding. They have no family ties to the area and chose it for their first date. They live in the city and try to spend as many weekends in the woods and small town. So I decided that a PEC engagement session would be just what they were looking for especially when they had indicated that they would love checking out a barn as well as a beach and did not want to be photographed in the city. Prince Edward County I knew would provide just what they were looking for.
