It was like Fire and Ice with the sun setting over the waters for Brianne and Brett’s couples session. It was stunning light for photographing.
I couldn’t have asked for better light for photographing Brianne and Brett as we walked to the frozen waters to capture one of their winter past times. Ice skating. It’s one of my favourites as well as I used to figure skate and speed skate as a teen. But better yet, growing up on the lake in Tweed I spent every day after school and weekends in my skates on the ice. My brothers and sister and myself would be out skating until the sun came down and we were called in to get ready for our baths and bed. Only then did we realize how frostbitten our toes were and we’d have to sit in front of the wood stove thawing them out. That was the best! Well, maybe not the frostbite part.
So when Brett and Brianne asked if I minded going on a little adventure walking down to the ice I was most definitely game. And I was so glad we did. That golden glow of the sun going down on a cold winter’s day is fabulous. Skating on the ice, walking along the shores edge, having a little fun throwing the snow around, makes anyone feel like a kid again. It was such a spectacular sky that I couldn’t have been happier to capture their love and why they connect so well together. It was the perfect backdrop. It was like the sky was on fire. And what a stark contrast to the snow and ice. Those oranges and yellows mixed with the blues and purples. It could not have been any more perfect. Our world is amazing and so are the people living within it.
But, as much as it was beautiful outdoors it’s great just to hang out with the one you love in the warmth of your home drinking a glass of wine, playing board games, reading or just loving on your cat. That’s what I call a great relaxing weekend.
