Cincinnati, Ohio was the destination of a recent trip for my husband and I and I wouldn’t mind going back.
Despite it being a ten hour drive, I was excited to be travelling to Cincinnati with my husband. It was a little daunting and my poor legs were cramped by the time we arrived, but it was worth it to me. Crossing the border in Windsor to Detroit however, the border patrol couldn’t figure out why I would find Cincinnati interesting. I know it’s not the normal destination one would choose to plan a getaway with your husband, but for me it was perfect. We said we were going to choose a destination and just go somewhere…anywhere.
So when there was an opportunity to go to a workshop being held by the talented Esteban Gil and Nicole Cain I jumped at the chance…and then I searched what else we could do while there. Especially since I wanted my husband to explore with me. I discovered that there was an observatory that we would be able to actually view the stars through. And it was done. I booked the hotel room and the tickets for the observatory…and then I told my husband my plans. lol
The day of the workshop was fabulous. Sunny and 20 degrees. Wandering around I knew I had to photograph the following day. Unfortunately the following day it rained the entire time. However, despite my husband’s pleading I ventured out regardless to photograph at least the churches in the area. I’m not quite sure what it is but wherever I go, I’m attracted to various churches. There is something about them that is so appealing to me. The architecture is quite beautiful to start. The intricate details in the stone, the beautiful colors of the stained glass windows, and inside all the magnificent carvings in the wood make me want to photograph every inch. I was fortunate that where I stopped, there were a few churches to photograph and then only minutes away, an old abandoned church. It truly was my favorite but I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to sneak inside because it was now under construction. I was glad to see that someone saw the beauty in it, but I was saddened not to be able to photograph the staircase and pillars inside.
